This is the agreement between you and Vegan Lens. It matters most in three places: what the app is not (§3), how the subscription renews (§6), and what happens if something goes wrong (§11). Those three are written plainly. So is the rest.
The short version.
On this page
By creating an account or using Vegan Lens you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree with them, please don’t use the app — and if you have already paid, ask for a refund from Apple or Google (§7). You must be at least 13 years old, and at least 16 if you are in the EU or the UK.
The app is operated by Boris Nandi, Level 1, Suite 1.01/222 Pitt St, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia. Our Privacy Policy forms part of these terms.
You need an account to sync between devices. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Give us an email address that actually reaches you — it is how you would recover the account, and how we would tell you about a change to these terms.
One account per person. Don’t share or sell access.
Vegan Lens is not a medical device and not a healthcare service. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. Its calorie and nutrient figures are estimates for general wellness, derived from typical portion sizes and public reference values, and they will not match a laboratory.
Do not use it to manage a medical condition, a pregnancy, an allergy, or a prescribed diet. Talk to a doctor or a registered dietitian instead. If you are having a medical emergency, call your local emergency number.
Photo, label and menu scans are answered by an AI model. It is good, and it is not reliable enough to bet a serious dietary requirement on. It can misread a small ingredient list, miss an ingredient hidden in a sauce, or be confidently wrong about a dish it has not seen clearly.
Always check the actual label or ask the restaurant if the answer matters to you — because of an allergy, a medical requirement, or a commitment you hold seriously. Where the app is unsure it will say “uncertain” rather than guess, and you should treat that as a no until you have checked.
Barcode results come from Open Food Facts, a community database. Entries can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. The same rule applies: check the pack.
Please don’t:
We may suspend an account that does these things. If we do, we’ll tell you why, and you can still get your data out and delete it.
The free version of Vegan Lens is genuinely usable, with a daily limit on AI scans. veganlens+ removes the limit and unlocks full micronutrient tracking, pantry matching, and recipe ranking.
Auto-renewal, in full. A veganlens+ subscription renews automatically at the end of each period at the price shown on the paywall, and will keep renewing until you cancel it.
Free trial. Where a free trial is offered, it converts into a paid subscription automatically when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before that. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited if you buy a subscription during it. The app will show you the exact trial length and the exact price it becomes before you confirm.
Manage or restore a purchase in the app under You, or with Restore Purchases on the paywall.
All purchases go through Apple or Google, so refunds are theirs to give and are governed by their terms — reportaproblem.apple.com or Google Play’s refund page. We can’t issue one directly, but if something has gone wrong, write to support@veganlens.app and we will help you make the case.
If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK you have a statutory right to withdraw from a digital purchase within 14 days. Buying and immediately using a subscription can waive that right; Apple and Google apply their own, generally more generous, policies.
Your photos, your food log and everything else you put into the app remain yours. You give us only the permission we need to run the app for you: to store your content, to send a scan photo to our AI provider so it can be analysed, and to show it back to you. Nothing more. We do not use your content to train any model, and we do not publish it.
Delete your account and the licence ends with it, along with the content. See the privacy policy.
The app, its design, and its recipes are ours and are protected by copyright. The recipes are original and written for this app; you are welcome to cook them, adapt them in your own kitchen, and share a photo of the result. You may not republish the recipe text or the app’s content commercially, or use it to train a model.
Product data comes from Open Food Facts and place data from OpenStreetMap, both under the Open Database Licence (ODbL). We credit them in the app under About the data, and we don’t control their accuracy. Photography is licensed from Pexels.
The app is provided “as is”. We work hard to make it correct, but we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any verdict or nutrition estimate is accurate.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or £50.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your non-excludable rights as a consumer under UK, EU or Australian consumer law.
You can stop at any time: delete your account in the app or at veganlens.app/delete-account. We may suspend or close an account that breaches §5, or if we discontinue the app — in which case we will give reasonable notice and refund any unused prepaid period we are able to.
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you we will tell you in the app before it takes effect, and continuing to use Vegan Lens after that means you accept it. If you don’t, close your account.
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts of that state have jurisdiction.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where our liability for a failure to meet a consumer guarantee can be limited, it is limited to resupplying the service or paying the cost of having it resupplied.
If you are a consumer resident in the EU, the EEA or the UK, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of your own country’s mandatory consumer law, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
For the iOS app: this agreement is between you and us, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty you may notify Apple, who will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim relating to the app, including product liability, regulatory non-compliance, or consumer protection claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
